Here’s to the people who care about their jobs; the conscientious workers who strive for excellence even though their fellow employees ridicule them for caring and being conscientious.   Their fellow employees fear they will look bad if the people who care keep up the good work.

The people who care get to learn that they won’t be rewarded for their hard work, but they work hard no matter what.  That’s a myth that hard work is rewarded.  Rarely it is, but mostly the workers who get rewarded are those who have to have their noses surgically removed from their bosses’ asses.

There are people who work at their careers, and there are people who work on their careers.  It’s usually those who work on their careers who get promoted.  They don’t care whether the job gets done as long as it appears to get done.

I once told my boss, at one of the many jobs I had, that the work was not being done properly.  He did not care and did nothing about it.  He said, “The work looks like it’s being done and my boss is happy.  All I have to do is please my boss.”

Praise to you conscientious workers of the world!  I salute you.
