What do flags have in common?  They are simply cloths with designs.  That is all they are.  What do these cloths with designs represent?  A lot, but they are not what they represent.

How often we give our power away by choosing to allow something to affect us that in itself has no power to do anything to us.

We choose to get angry if people burn our country’s flag.  Why?  All the people are doing is burning a cloth with a design.  They are not harming our country.  Also, it shows how silly the people are in thinking that they can attack a country by burning its flag.

What a stink recently over banning the Confederate flag.  Why?  Some say it represents racism.  Suppose it does.  Is banning this cloth with a design going to stop racism?  People who want to be racists will be racists whether or not a flag flies at a government building.

The next time I am in a restaurant, I am going to eat the menu to see whether it tastes better than the food.
