Being childlike—or if you prefer childish—means that I do not like being told what to do.  If society tells me, “Act romantic on Valentine’s Day,” then I rebel.  It’s not that I am not romantic,  it is only that I do not like being told how I should feel on a certain day.

I love play and spontaneity!  When I was in relationships, I would surprise my partners with a romantic gesture for no reason.   Sometimes it would be with flowers, but more often it would be with something I made.  It was not on a special occasion.  The occasion was special with my gesture.  This often included going out for dinner.  Sometimes my partners accepted my gesture as is — a spontaneous romantic act for fun.  Most of the time my partners met my gesture with suspicion.  “Okay, what did you do?  Why are giving me flowers?  What are you buttering me up for?  C’mon you must have done something.  No guy gives flowers for no reason.”

Some people have no idea the fun they miss by not being playful and spontaneous.
